Square Nose for Game boy
STORY
In the near future, 1996 to be exact, two international companies fight against each other to reign over the dry pet food market. On one hand, Old Ram, the leader, promises "A longer life for your beloved ones ". On the other hand, True Pasta, the challenger, comes up with a fresh "More tasty! More speed! More fun!" slogan.
In the True Pasta laboratory, Doctor Meggan leads testing on some genetically modified animals to see what kind of dry food is the most exciting. Eventually, the perfect formula will be used to produce meaty rings that will be eaten by cats and dogs in our sweet homes. True Pasta will one day shine over the world as the greatest manufacturer of pet food.
A new hard-working day begins for our little Square Nose, who is tasked by Doctor Meggan to eat the 32 meaty rings, and she will record results in her notebook. If Square Nose fails to make friendly contact with the other animals, it will receive a gentle electric shock, and the test will be considered a failure. The line between cruelty and scientific advancement is once again blurred.
So, what are you waiting for? Let’s go! Eat them all, Square Nose!

DEVELOPMENT
Years ago, I began making and selling homemade Arduboys, and I wanted a game to load onto the consoles before shipping, so customers would have something to play out of the box. I was a huge fan of a game called Square Nose, a Sonic demake by Juice Lizard. It not only has a creative story line, but wonderful sprites and pickup and play machanics. It was an obvious choice to flash to the arduboys that I sold.
Fast forward to the present day, my focus is on passing time by making small Game Boy games, and of course, Square Nose came to mind. I adapted the 3 Levels that Juice Lizard created, added a couple more, and amended the story to fit my laziness, as I couldn't be bothered making a timer that the original game had. Really, what Juice Lizard created originally is amazing, such a lovely character and wonderfully imaginative story, I am not sure I have done it justice.
My previous disastrous attempts at music have not improved, and I once again have fallen upon converting other people's music. I'm not sure how I found KrustyKrabStudios, but every track this guy has created is absolute gold. They are short, catchy, have great progression, and are very expressive. KrustyKrabStudios is way too humble and plays down how good their work is.
Both KrustyKrabStudios and Juice Lizard have given permission for me to use the work in this game, and I thank them both for allowing me to do so.
This is my ninth game release on Itch.io, I am not sure if the play for free in browser and pay for the ROM method is working. It feels a bit crass, but some of these games are taking over 20 hours to complete. If you appreciate my work or my games have brightened your day, please think about supporting me by purchasing the ROM or using the support button below.
Once again, thank you to everyone who has visited my page, played in the browser, left a comment, or downloaded a ROM. I am forever humbled and thankful to you all.
